In all situations where people participate in buying and selling, there will inevitably be speculation. The difference between pure speculation and sensible investment behavior is only that the later relies on detailed business, economic and financial analysis before deciding on whether to buy or sell.
There are costs you incur when you buy or sell shares and these will dictate the size of investment below which it does not make sense to invest.
About where to hang out with people to talk about shares, you need to look and read around and eventually you may find a group that satisfies your needs. The internet is a good source of sites like this one where you can read about companies and the economy to sharpen your knowledge on how to invest in shares. You of course need to educate yourself so that you can filter out the good from all the advice you will come across. Do not be surprised to find that the bulk of advice you ever receive may not be to your own investment good.
Most important of all; how good the advice you willever get on investment, depends on what you know. So educate yourself before you listen to any hot tip.
